Terms of Service

Pictalens is a service that takes photographs you upload and returns edited versions of them: corrected for lens distortion, camera tilt and exposure, and — where you have chosen a styling pass — decluttered and staged. The service is provided on an as-is basis as described on this website.

“You” means the person or business submitting photographs. “We” and “us” mean Pictalens. A “batch” is a single upload of one or more photographs submitted together for processing.

You keep ownership of every photograph you upload. Nothing in these terms transfers copyright in your originals to us.

By uploading, you confirm that you own the photographs or have the rights necessary to submit them for editing and to grant the licence in section 7. If you are an agent, photographer or property manager acting for someone else, you confirm you have that person’s permission. If you cannot give those assurances for a particular photograph, do not upload it.

Do not upload photographs whose main subject is an identifiable person, or that contain material you do not have the right to distribute. The service is built for photographs of property interiors and exteriors.

The output is an edited photograph, produced in part by generative models. It is not a documentary record. Geometry is reprojected, light is rebalanced, clutter may be removed, and — under a styling pass — furnishings and soft furnishings may be restyled, recoloured or replaced. That is the product you are buying.

We instruct the pipeline never to remove, flatten or disguise the property’s condition — damp, mould, water damage, rot, cracks, subsidence, or peeling and blistering paint — and never to change layout, dimensions, windows, doors, built-in fixtures, or the view out of the window. These are instructions to a model, not guarantees of a deterministic system.

You are responsible for reviewing every image before you publish it. Your batch keeps every original beside its edited version for the retention period, so you can compare the two frame by frame. Check the output against the property. If an image misrepresents it, do not use that image.

Many jurisdictions and portals require edited or virtually staged property images to be disclosed as such. Advertising standards rules on misleading omissions generally apply to property listings. Complying with those rules is your responsibility, not ours. The before-and-after comparison kept with every batch is there to make that straightforward.

You must not present Pictalens output as an unedited photograph where disclosure is required.

Pricing is per photograph and shown before a batch starts, at $1.00 a photograph. There is no subscription and no minimum.

Photographs that fail to process are not charged. If a batch produces output that is unusable through a fault in our processing, contact us and we will re-run or refund that batch. We do not refund because you changed your mind about how a room was styled.

Accounts we have whitelisted use the service without payment. We may end that arrangement at any time with notice.

Your uploaded originals, the edited images and their thumbnails are kept for as long as you have an account. Nothing is deleted on a timer, and your download links keep working.

Deleting your account deletes all of it, permanently. You may also ask us to delete a single batch. We will still keep our own record of what was ordered and what it cost, which tax law requires of us.

Images published under section 7 are copies held separately, and are not deleted on that schedule. Section 7 explains how to have them removed.

You grant us a licence to publish the edited images we produce for you, alongside the corresponding original, as examples of the service. This includes our website, marketing material, and social and advertising channels. The licence is non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free, and it covers only images processed through the service.

We publish them without your name, your client’s name, the property address, the filename, or any other identifying caption. We do not sell them, license them on to third parties, or use them to advertise anything other than Pictalens.

You can opt out at any time. Email us at hello@pictalens.com naming the batch, and we will remove those images from public use and keep them out of future selections. There is no charge and it does not affect your use of the service.

This licence survives deletion of your files under section 6, for the images already published. It ends for any image once you opt out.

Do not use the service to produce images intended to deceive buyers or tenants about a property’s condition, to process photographs you have no right to, or to attempt to extract, reverse-engineer or resell the underlying models. Do not attempt to circumvent batch limits or payment.

Batches are limited to 40 photographs. We may decline or stop processing anything that breaches these terms, and may suspend accounts that do so repeatedly.

Photographs are processed using third-party model providers and stored with third-party infrastructure providers while a batch runs. By using the service you consent to that processing. We do not permit our providers to train their models on your photographs where the provider’s terms allow us to make that election, and we make it.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, a particular processing time, or that any specific edit will succeed. Processing times shown in the product are estimates.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the amount you paid for the batch in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost sales, lost listings, or claims arising from your publication of an edited image. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

We may change these terms. The version in force for a batch is the one recorded when that batch was submitted. Material changes will be reflected in a new version number on this page.
